Brother in law turned me onto this over Christmas holidays.
Free trial that lasts forever (limited to one area)
Fun for kids, and can be a blast for adults also.
Can subscribe for a pretty reasonable sum.
Or you can buy "crowns" to open up area's as you get there.
Basicly starts your character as a starting student at wizard school.
You complete quests, fight monsters, ultimately have a chance at saving the galaxy.
It really is designed to be kid friendly, with excellent (too good) controls on text.
(have to be over 13 to have full text chat privs, or parents permision)
Combat is very much like the old Magic the Gathering card game.
You cast spells based on cards that you have in your deck.
Your wand gives you some spells, gear, pets, jewelry gives you others.
Plus there are "treasure cards" which you'll get from some monsters or you can buy them.
Those are single use, one time cards.
The combat is very very good. I've been playing a character for about a week now.
Have him up to level 15, and I have to confess fighting the "Boss" characters is awesome.
Also if you lose in combat, you don't lose gear, etc. You just go back to the "Commons" area, have to hang around, play mini games, and let your health, mana rebuild.
Very good system for being able to play with your children, learn what they are being exposed to, etc.
With good parental controls built in.
If your a subscriber they have ranked PvP match's 1vs1 up to 4vs4.
Very good game for younger kids, yet challenging enough for adults.
In short, I'm impressed enough to post about it.
