The Mongrels were part of a strike team bombing Nuremburg with heavy P47D-40s.

Attending:
Drone
TeeRex
Harppa
ASADog

The flight leader called for an NOE strike with the escorting Typhoons running diversionary interdiction.. the logic being that any heavy P47s caught on the deck were dead, no matter how many escorts were around.  Valid point.

We arrived at the target and were jumped on the outskirts of town.  The AAA towers killed  a couple of us, while the enemy fighters got the rest.

Personally, I hate NOE missions during special events. It's not because of any historical issues.. it's simply because the average success rate of any NOE missions I've been on ( aside from scouting ) is hovering around 0%.

The planeset with this FSO  pretty much dictates that a JABO P47 ( can you say 'Perterbilt'?  'Kenworth'?  'International Harvestor'? ) is dead if ever seen.  So, it makes sense to be as invisible as possible.  Well, we almost made it..

The target being what it is, a city, also favors the defender because you trigger the 'base flash' on the surrounding strats before the middle.. which provides a nice little triangulation feature indicating what direction the attack is coming from.  We should have sent a diversion ( which I was hoping the typhoons were going to be doing ) that had everything flashing by the time we got within range.  Whoops.

It wasn't a bad night.. just no surprises.

right_salute to those that flew.. Looks like I'll be around next week, unless something unforeseen arises.

Sorry I could not make it.
Was hoping to make a couple frames this month, looks like I will not make any. Will have been out of town for 2 of the 3. Sad
