Sorry I have been AFK for several days.

Lost power last Thursday and only got it back a couple hours ago. We had a significant storm come in and had some trees break in our area. One top of a pine fell on the stairs to our front deck and another small tree fell across our back deck. Pretty scary stuff when at 1 AM your awake hearing trees snap and fall every 20 minutes or so. You bet I was praying at that time. Frankly in a VERY small way it gave me a taste of what it would be like in a fox hole when artillery shells are dropping. You hear these things crash and some are VERY close (pictures) and wonder if the next will come through your roof. We have some very large trees near our house that would literally cut it in half and take out anyone beneath it.  I am so thankful nothing fell on our house or more important none of us were injured. Our neighbor down the road had one drop on her when she was out very early in the morning checking her house for damage. He found her with her ankle next to her head. She lived, but was very badly injured and a friend of mine who was on the scene used his car jack to jack up the tree and pull her out.

We did a lot of reading by candle light and not much else.
Did you know you can make cookies in a frying pan?

Reading by candlelight works if you have 2 or 3 big white candles. I like the 1.5 - 2" size they seem to reflect more light out the base.

Be thankful your at least able to keep the house warm and have a hot surface to cook on. All too many people in this day and age don't think about what happens when the power goes out.

Glad you all survived with no major problems.
I think the next couple of months could be interesting up here.
Lots of storms and snow then I suspect we'll be worried about getting wet again.
