I don't think I have ever been in a defensive fight for so long Shocked.  I dueled that 163 for probably 5 minutes all the way to the deck. Darn thing was so fast by the time I rolled out of it's way and then back around on it, it was 800 or better out and climbing away, probably did this 5 times with shots exchanged on both sides but neither of us hit laugh. Eventually I think he got low on gas and broke off.  I leveled out, and started trying to head home (16min fuel), when I see a high pony fly over.  He makes one pass at me which I split S under and he zooms back up.  I figure great I don't have the fuel or speed to mess with this guy right now.  I see a set of friendly bombers fly between me and him, thinking that he will surely go for the bombers, but he didn't  BangHead.  I'm now on the deck, still have a bit of speed but very low on fuel.  He's got 3k and a good 50mph on me.  I'm trying to make a run for it but he keeps running up my 6 at high speed.  I'm breaking as low into him as I can, almost got him to hit a hill once going for a shot on me.  I was starting to get desperate, I couldn't keep my heading very well, when I was breaking into him early, he was simply high YOYOing and resetting for another run.  Decided to try and make a good target of myself and try for a reversal.  At his speeds I normally broke at about 1k, which gave me a safe margin of error.  This run I broke at 800, with little room to get under him He ended up hitting me, not enough to damage anything but "My Pilot" DOOHH!, but was able to roll over the top of him and get a few hits into him as well, reversal worked, not as well as I wanted though.  This through him off, and I got about 4k of clearance before he could reset.  This is when I made my long straight run for home, of course passing out on the way wasn't a good time Tongue.  Eventually I sorta equalled speed, but with a pilot wound and low gas was in no position to go offensive.  Fortunately BigB showed up in the mighty Hog and the pony ran away. Thanks BigB thumbsup  I was able to safely land the bird after all that.

I've been in that kind of situation Bigrat and I've gone very low, some pilots then won't come at you quite as agresive because they don't want to crash and some crash LOL.

Judging from dicho's AAR, I think this is the moment he said '..lan..':

I will make another observation about moving the plane from the gunner position..

It used to be the twisty stick would alter the rudder from the gunner position.. but now I'm pretty sure it just moves the ailerons.   I know I tried that J/L key combo to get stuff to change and it wouldn't budge.

Now, my stick/mapping has 5 or 6 years of corruption built into it, so I may very well have some custom stuff going on that I've forgotten about.

If anybody knows how to set it up to alter course through a gunner position while using rudder pedals, that might be useful to Dicho.  Ghosth?  You got something on that?

I've done it with my rudders before but haven't tried it lately.  I'll give it a shot offline and see what effect it has.

But ya look right
look forward

Sorry for laughing Dicho. Felt bad afterward.

Great AAR BigRat. I had a fight like that with a 163 a couple years back, but after about 5 minutes he finally got me.  occasion14

I spent a couple hours making a quick movie of my fight with that 190 that shot down Drone.
