Just thought I would start a new thread for this so we can keep it out of the Ventrillo thread.

Web site it here  http://x-plane.com/

and their forums are here  http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?act=idx

I have a fictious airport built called KHTC it's the large airfield in AH.

Currently I am working on KPYRO ( the small airfield)

KSUDZ ( the medium airfield )

KSKUZZY ( the vehicle field )

not sure what I'll call the Port yet.

68Falcon and I fly this... it's 1000000000000% better than FSX.

A little info about X-Plane, it's a completely moddifable flight simulator.
You can build your own airplane with the included tool Plane Maker, you can create custom scenery
such as my KHTC airport with  free utilities called WEB ( World Editor Beta), and Overlay Editor.

There are thousands of player created aircraft that are free and available for download.
Everything from the Wright Flyer, to the F-35.

You can modify any aircraft, be it a free one or a pay version plane.
Want the Cesna 172 to fly 500 mph you can modify it (might rip the wings off tho).

Feel like flying a 747 you can do that as well.

There is also the ability to fly online like Flight Simulator 2004 and X.

There is a free demo of X-plane available on there site, it allows you to fly for 10 mins. so you can get an
idea of what it's like.

If you purchase the sim it comes with the entire Globe of scenery.
There are all kinds of addons as well...I like the missionx one where you can fly different missions and stuff.

Note - X-Plane is NOT a combat flight simulator.

If any one is intrested in it or has questions  you can catch me on skype or send me a PM.

Haven't found a Spit V yet but found a "Spitfire PR Mk XIX" counter rotating 5 bladed props. and a Spit MK IX, plus a lot of other WWII birds.

Ohhh and some one has even made a B-29   lol

Made my first flight online last night in a King-Air B200 from KSHV to KAEX. Was kind of fun to open a web page and see my planes
Icon slowly move across the map.

OK been playing around with Plane Maker and AC3D  here is my latest project. You might remember this from the 2009 AH Con  Wink

2 Low-Bypass Jet Engines with 10,900 pounds of thrust each and 7,000 pounds of After Burner each.

5 - M39-20mm Cannons  toothy9

Anyway it's fun to try and fly.

X-Plane 9 is MASSIVE.  This is off the back of the carton:

X-Plane 9 is the most comprehensive and powerful flight simulator available for the personal computer.  X-Plane simulates anything that flies: from single-engine fixed-wing props to multi-engine jets; gliders to dirigibles; helicopters to spacecraft to VTOLs, X-Plane 9 simulates them all.

Using blade-element theory, X-Plane 9 accurately simulates the aerodynamic properties of any lifting surface, producing the most realistic flight dynamics available.

Create your own aircraft using the included Plane-Maker tool, or design your own scenery with World-Maker.  X-Plane 9 includes over 30 aircraft spanning the aviation industry and history, with hundreds more commercial and user-created planes available for download from the internet.

Features:
-Fly in a full range of weather, including micro bursts.
-Fail over 35 aircraft systems, individually or randomly.
-Test your mettle and land on a moving aircraft carrier.
-Soar in a glider and find thermals to stay aloft.
-Land a commercial airliner during wind sheer conditions.
-Create a high-end simulation rig with included multiple monitor and multi-machine support.
-Engage scenarios and fight forest fires with air-dropped fire retardants, or land a helicopter on an offshore oil rig.

The company that makes it has an FAA approved version that can be used by flight schools for training purposes.  When midi says it comes with an entire globe of scenery, he's not kidding.  It comes on 6 DVD's and contains 60GB of scenery.  You can virtually take off from any airport in the world including the Bismarck, ND airport.  You can even file flight plans.

I might have to hit you up for a little setup assistance myself mrmidi if you don't mind.  Like I said, I haven't had a lot of time to play around with it but I'm getting that itch if you know what I mean (no, it's not fleas!).

And yet another project.

I actually started out making an Albatros D.Va Bi-plane and then wandered off in design  LOL

It's a Balsa wood Bi-Plane.

If you have X-Plane and want to try it out it can be downloaded over at X-plane.org  http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=13482

What is the scenery like? I have been considering buying this currently I play FSX but really bored with it. I mean if you fly into BHM does it look similar to Brmingham, Al or does it look like flat ground with some charcoal dust sprinkled on the ground with gutted out soviet style apartment buildings every once in a while.

The default scenery to me is better than FSX however there is much more player made content (freeware), available and some of the freeware rivals the payware.

There is a huge scenery, aircraft, plugin, repository at http://forums.x-plane.org//index.php?automodule=downloads.

I would suggest downloading the demo and trying it before you buy. The demo allows you to fly for 10 mins so you can go to different airports and check them out as well as the different default A/C.
I am also in the process of setting up my own network like the Vatsim network in which you can connect with either FS2004, FSX, or x-plane. Using the Dafnode server software
anda VPS I bought last week.
