I swapped out my old E6250 for a E8400, brought it back up, and it seems to be running quite hot.

Cpu under light load at 57C. If I try to put it under more load it shuts down on overheat.

Did I not get the heat sink properly mated?

Or  does the E-8400 run that much hotter?

Would appreciate any thoughts, ideas.

Ghosth after we talked last night I did a little research...here is what I found.

"My CPU temperature is averaging around 55c - 61c at 60% load. Is that normal? or do I need to reinstall the heatsink.

When its not doing anything its around 42 - 48c for both cores.

Please tell me what I have to do :/ "

 ===============================================================================================

"The CoreTemp readings are incorrect. The isssue is that CoreTemp takes its readings based on a TJunction of 100°C while the actual TJ of the Wolfdale chips is 90°C...or 85°C, I can't remember which off the top of my head. So, the ACTUAL temperatures are between 10-15°C than what you are seeing there."

Here is the link to where I found this..

Hope this helps.
