Hiya Mongrels!

I know I haven't been flying during the week very much.

My biggest hobby is photography and this is volleyball season.  With my daughter on the freshman team, I have an excuse to haul my camera to the games and catch the Varsity team in action after the freshman game is done.

I typically burn 1200 shots between the games I attend.. so sorting through and cropping can be tedious.

Here are a couple of shots.  The first one was actually published by the local newspaper.

Family first, work second, Mongrels last. That is the rule! We try very hard not to have divorces or other AH related problems.

Great pics Drone.   Makes me wonder though if you have something against college cheerleaders and dance teams?   toothy9

I know Drone.  Step up to the big leagues.  Start with the LSU Golden Girls.  A finer group of brains there are not! Wink

Wow! Very nice pictures!
I have to pick your brain on equipment.
I bought about a year ago the Nicon D5000. Very happy with it. Would like a lens that can get pictures like that!

What everyone else said, family first. Smiley And I understand the busy part. I am guilty of the same. Smiley

The lens I used for that is a Sigma 70-200MM f 2.8  APO EX lens.  It's a sweet piece of equipment, but can be pricey.

The version for your camera would be:

http://www.sigmaphoto.com/shop/70-200mm-f28-ex-dg-apomacro-hsm-ii-sigma

And the Nikon equivalent would be:

http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-70-200mm-VR-II-Digital/dp/B002JCSV8U/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1288017109&sr=8-9

Now, before you let the $$ blow you away, keep in mind these lenses will do things you never thought possible, and you'll be shooting professional pics in no time.

If you have a camera shop close by ( There's only one left in Omaha ) pay them a visit and maybe they have one you can rent...

You can also shop eBay.  If you find a lens and the seller has over 1000 sales and 95%+ positive rating, you should be safe.

I don't know the difference between these two lenses.  I got my Sigma for $690 on eBay about 3 years ago and it does a great job.  I would be hard pressed to believe the $1800 SONY lens would be worth the extra $$$ in better image.

Wow. Almost a grand difference between those two links. Is one as good as the other?
