This model of a 1931 Gee Bee Super Sportster took several years to complete. It all started with a Cleveland Model Plan, circa 1941. I always liked the lines of this historic air racer from the Golden Age of air racing covering the years from 1930 through 1939.
Since, the plane did not come from a kit, every piece had to be carved and hand fitted into place which became a daunting task. Many times I almost trashed the model due to being frustrated with my slow progress. It seemed the project might never be completed. I'm pleased I finally completed the model which is now on display at the Palm Springs Air Museum here in Palm Springs.
