"Why I'm an idiot" or "How to launch a hog backwards"

If you forget to pick up your tailhook on the carrier deck and try to back up to launch, you will after backing up about 10 ft, be hurled off the back of the carrier at a high rate of speed and the brakes won't help ya.  This is the "How to Launch a Hog Backwards" part.  I originally thought I had the text buffer on and the keyboard brake would be inop, but on further checking, the above scenario actually happened.

The "Why I'm an Idiot" part is, I think I did the exact same thing last year  BangHead

I always go backward off the carrier whether the tail hook is down or not. This is why I don't back up. No matter what I do or how many times I practice it I always go off backwards.
