The first iRacing.com World Tour event will be the Rolex 2.4 hour at Daytona. This one-time event is to take place during the actual Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona going on the same day. For this one event, we had to significantly shorten the race compared to the real-world counterpart.

• Title: iRacing.com Rolex 2.4 hours at Daytona

• Event Date: January 30th, 2010, 12 noon EST (17:00 GMT)

• Qualifying: Qualifying will begin at 11:30am EST (16:30 GMT), Jan. 30th. There will be a 20 minute open group qualifying session before the race.

• Race Start: The race will begin at 12 noon EST (17:00 GMT), Jan. 30th.

• Series: iRacing World Tour/Special Events. Members will use the Series tab and select iRacing World Tour/Special Events.

• Car: Daytona Prototype

• Track: Daytona, using the road course configuration. The road course will also be available for use for practice sessions and hosted sessions through the month of January.

• Eligibility: Open to all iRacing members, regardless of license level. Drivers will qualify and be gridded into race sessions based on qualifying time and iRating.

• Safety Rating: S.R. will be in effect to discourage car to car contact.

• Tows, Resets, Pitstops, Yellow Flags: Each driver will be allowed one reset (a tow back to pit lane). Typical pit stop rules will be in effect. Local yellow flags will be used.

• Race Start & Car Count: Rolling start will be used. Car count will be 40 cars per split.

• Race Length: Approximately 2.4 Hours (144 minutes). The race will be set to 90 laps. 90 laps is the closest approximation to a 2.4 hour (or 144 min.) race.

• Cost: Free, no entry fee to all iRacing members.

• Content Required: Daytona racetrack and the Riley MKXX Daytona Prototype

• Prizes: 24 drivers will win $24 in the form of iRacing credits. Participating drivers will be chosen randomly by iRacing.com. To be eligible to win the prize, a driver must take the green flag or start the race. They do not have to finish the race to be eligible.

• Race Reporting: The top 3 drivers in each split (race group) will be announced by iRacing after the completion of the event.

Well, I have less then 24 hours until my 2.4 Hours of Daytona race on iRacing. I have worked everyday this week on my setup and I seem to have a good setup now. My best test run was a 1:41.118. I should be under a 1:40 tonight. The car setups for iRacing is very real. I used the same formula's and ect I do for real racing and it works on iRacing. The biggest key was getting the correct cross weight... but every time you change the ride height, you have to make an adjustment to the cross weight.

Tonight I'll do more testing. Mainly doing another full tank run and practice pitstops. Then tomorrow I'll do a warmup session offline. I'm worried about the Bus Stop, It's very easy to drop two wheels off there and the real race cars do it all the time.... the problem here is I drop a point in my safety rating.... and over 2 hours and 24 minutes... who knows how many that could be.... maybe as many as 40 times.

Oh well, wish me luck.

There has been 446 drivers who has qualified for the 2.4 Hours of Daytona. I qualified 348 with a time of 1:42.722… I might do another Qualifying session tonight and maybe I can take off another second and a half…. And move up to around 200. Which could put me pretty high in my race.

Well, I finished the Rolax 2.4 Hours of Daytona racing on iRacing.com. I had a great time. I finished in the Top-10 (7th) out of 39 cars. I think the series had over 950 cars race in this race in separate races.

Even though I had a good starting position, I had decided to start the race from pitlane and I was the only car to do this. Which means I started in dead last. After the first lap I had moved up 18 spots to 21st. I moved up to 10th just before the first pits stop, I then moved up to 7th just before my final pit stop. I made a perfect pit stop and stayed in 7th and just basically finished off the race in 7th.

The race was a lot of fun, we had John Henry in our race, who’s the owner of iRacing… he finished 30th.

At the finished I was 7th and received +1.75 on my safety rating… jump me into D License.
