I thought it best to start a new thread. So I started working on the Spec Racer Ford (SRF) setup and practicing on the new track this week. As I came to find out, this is the first time the SRF has raced on this particular course arrangement which is very interesting. I wound up being in the most experienced group of racers I've seen so far, with a few "Pro's" and A licenses as well. The guy I was racing with has the iRacing world record in the SRF on this track.

As it turns out the best way to describe the SRF handling is "Terrific, a combination of terrible and horrific!" as one of the more experienced guy's up it. So 3 or 4 lap's into the race I wad up the car for the second time and retire licking my wounds. It has an nasty snap over-steer that pretty much ruins your day.

Here are a few pict's of me working on finding the right setup for the car, plus they showcase the nice graphics in the game.

First, I'd like to point out how detailed the trees are. Unlike AH, pretty much all the vegitation is harmful to your car.

Next the damage model is very nice as I repeatedly somersaulted the damage got progressively worse.

And on a final note I'd like to point out that they do a wonderful job of modeling the bottom of the cars, as well as the tops!

 Grin  Cya on the track!

Does damage affect handling? Years back i played an F1 game and they modeled tire wear and loss of down force due to damage to the ground effects.

Yep, tire wear and damage effect handling.  One of the cool features is there's an f mode button so you can monitor tire temps as you're racing, that really helps when you are testing various suspension setups.

I had one bad setup (I made a mistake between + and - camber) and had a tire that was 200 on the outside edge (optimum for the SRF) and 140 on the inside edge!

Yeap, you'll need more negative Camber.  Where in the turn was the snap oversteer happen? (entry, middle, exit)? Also is it off power or on power?

I'm sure we can get a setup where the car handles better. Of course I think we're limited to what we can adjust on the car.

On thing for sure... I have never seen a real Spec Racer Ford do a flip like that...  toothy9

What a fantastic wreck Baumer thumbsup I wish I had thought to save my film of me hitting the wall so hard in my legend car I barrel rolled it down the straight in testing. I finally found the line at Lanier now i just got to hit it consistently and your right your turn that corner so fast you don't even know you lifted off the gas pedal.
