Forgive the quality of drawing. That was never my strong point.

Here is a simple diagram that pertains to my question.

The top drawing is what I have experienced before with the systems I have built over the years. The MB rests on the brass risers you screw into the case and then you screw the MB in to the brass risers with a paper washer between the screw and the MB.

The case I bought I can’t use brass risers. The case has little mounds or bumps that rise up and I have to screw into those. The MB is resting directly on the bottom of the case.

Is that OK???

Daddog,

If these "bumps" are already threaded for you then I don't see the harm. They do match up to the holes on the
MB ...right. Are you worried about shorting out the MB ?  It just looks to me like a cheaper way to manufacture a MB as to not have to supply those costly brass standoffs  Cheesy  Probably a penny or 2 savings in making the case. The pre-made holes in MB's should be chassis
ground anyway. I thing you are ok. If you don't feel comfortable then use paper or vinyl washers on top and bottom of the MB

That seems to be the new standard for lower end cases dd.
My last one was like that also.

I do agree about a small square of duct or elec tape across each riser.
As it will help prevent a short if there is a riser where the MB maker didn't expect one.

Ya that is what I did. Removed the MB and then placed some electrical tape on each riser and then screwed it back down.

I have just about everything wired and ready to go. Tonight I will put in the DVD, Vid card and might fire it up. Smiley
