Do i need to have the program open and running to show I'm online and receive calls, or is it allways running in the background?

That is up to you. Personally I do not start skype with windows.  Some guys do, some don't. Me I prefer the control of deciding when I'm available and when I'm not.

If you want to receive messages, leave skype running in the background. If your in a game, you can change your online status to "away"
That will let you receive messages, and reply to them, while playing. (you'll hear the tone when messages come in, or if someone trys to call)
When you answer is up to you. Some days I make brother Baumer wait an hour for his "good morning" some days I don't.

PS for me Fallout 3 will let me alt tab or windows desktop key to get back to skype IF I have another active window open. Be it web browser, text document, etc. If I don't it either doesn't want to let me out, or it will crash before I can get back in. F5 to quicksave first, just in case, esc to pause F3, then alt tab or windows key.


BTW what did you think of the big beast at the GNR building?

I turn on my system and leave skype on and set to away. Simply because so often I am away and I got tired (and would forget) of changing my status.
