Hey, Does anyone fly on Flight Simulator X? I have been since it came out, but have been a fan of it when it first came out.

The reason I'm asking is to see if anyone would like to join 68Falcon, 68Lurch, 68Raptor and myself in some online flights?

You would have to have FSX and the
Acceleration expansion pack

I tried it a couple of months ago, but really was not impressed.

I didn't see any big upgrade in how things look, or perform from fs2004.

So I deleted it back off my hard drive and went looking for something else.
Found Fallout 3 and I've been hooked on it ever since.
Good luck though, I'm sure there must be other squadies running it.

Hey guys, I finally joined a Virtual Airline, which is pretty cool. I’m flying with Pacific Airways which is part of the American Pacific Group (APG) which also includes American Flight Airways.

It’s pretty cool, because we’re allowed to do flights both online and offline as well. They have different categories of aircraft which means the more hours of flight time you have the more different type of aircraft you can fly. The APG has everything from Cessna 208 to a Dash 8 to a Airbus A320 all they way up to a 777 or 747.

Here some pictures.

I have the older  WWII Europe series and the Pacific series as well. I don't know if "realistic" is the right term Mal.  Both gave you more options or abilities so far as engine management is concerned. You did not have to manage your engine so far as mixture, prop pitch, cowl flaps, ect, ect. But you could if you wanted too.

I don’t know about the Spitfire, but I do know the racing P-51 Mustangs, you must be easy with the throttle and the mixture otherwise you will burn a piston or stall the motor. You have to always watch your engine gauges.

The flying is similar to Ah2 Aircraft, except, the AH2 aircraft a little more forgiving. I think if someone wanted to improve their flying skills (non Air-to-Air Combat), that FSX or FS2004 will help.

Been awhile since this thread has been hit, but does anybody play ( or have interest in playing)  this online?

Been flying an 'Around the World'  tour with some friends for a year now.. Good opportunity to learn GPS, VFO, Nav and some other 'admin' tasks.

They're working on recreating that B17/P38 mission that 'ditched' in Iceland during a ferry flight in WW2.

I used to fly quite a bit before AH. Flew for American Flight Airways for a while, just the Beechcraft, didn't fly the big boys. Not enough patience to fly cross country. Probably why I dont fly bombers in AH!

Here is a challenge for the FS aviators when you have the chance. Take off and land at Lukla airport, Nepal.

It's a 1600 ft runway nestled snug against Mt. Everest. I have been trying for a about 3 weeks to land on that thing. I've been short, long, hit the runway and went over the side of the cliff you name the ways to crash it and I've done it.

I have tried every prop plane in the game. The Cessna 172 doesn't have enough power to make it over the trees. I have settled on the Beechcraft 350 it takes off nice but is very hard to get back on the runway.

It is fun trying though.

I watched a History channel show tonight called Extreme airports and this one was the most extreme.

Maule Orion does it fairly nicely.  Smiley

Ohh btw yes I reinstalled FSX, anyone have good sites for freebies?

Doubt I'll get into flying it online (Runs up the jolly rodger)

But I'm kind of burned out on all my favorite games right now.

I haven't found any free scenery but I did find a DHC-6 Twin Otter that i downloaded but i didn't like the flight characteristics of it and it didn't have any Dash gauges. The controls just seemed sloppy and the nose would bounce all over the place.

I did find some free scenery for FS2004 but not sure it'll work with FSX.

Flushed I had an older version at one time that I'd take out from time to time and play offline.  I looked at FSX fairly seriously a couple of months ago but decided to focus all of my on and offline flight time on AH for right now.  That said I'll probably pick up a copy in a few months to try out some alternative methods of fun.  I've promised Squid I'd learn Halo for him as soon as I can afford another Xbox.  What's that theory that nature abhors a vacum?  My 'free' time is filling up fast LOL

It's an AC-130.

That is a howitzer...and a mini-gun or 2.

That's from an add-on expansion pack.

You can't fire them, but they look cool.
