Ok first let me say I know nothing about the new types of TV's they have been selling the last few years. Our TV is an old square screen that we have had for over 10 years.

The reason I am asking about the new types of TV screens is because my brother in-law not long ago spent a lot of $ on a computer flat screen. 24" I think and it was 4 or 5 hundred dollars. Today I was looking over HDTV's and they had some 26" screens for about $300. A LOT cheaper then a 26" computer flat screen. Can you use the new TV screens for a computer screen?

Well I know of several who have hooked a large tv to their video card for flying.

Baumer did this not too long ago if I remember correctly.

Yes the price of most 20 plus inch TV's has come way down.
Yes you probably can hook it up to your computer and use it.
But I suspect most do not have fast enough response and image quality
to make you really happy with it long term.

The bigger plasma screens, yes, but they are a bunch more than a few hundred bucks.
However I'm no expert on the new screens.

beware, not all flat screens are suitable for gaming on a computer.

I've been looking for a big lcd screen for awhile now, most have a responce time above 6ms this will cause ghosting. They are starting to market 120 Hz LCD's with response times around 4ms,even 3 and 2 ms but these are high end.$$$ ...  I'd wait another 6 months till all the sets are 120hz then find a bargain.

Thats my plan, got my eye on a 52 in LCD thats around 2500,I'd bet it will be under 2000 by march or so.

Just ordered the other day when it was on sale.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4240513&cm_mmc=Email-_-WebletMain-_-WEBLET03ORDER-_-03order&SRCCODE=WEBLET03ORDER

Out of stock now, but I got it for $199 and a mail in rebate for $30. Total cost will be about $169 and about $15 for shipping. It was a deal.

I have had a CRT screen for, well forever. This will be a treat. Smiley

It has been on back order. Finally arrived yesterday. Wow! What a difference. It is as if the game had an upgrade in the graphics. My CRT was 21", but about 11 years old. It still works fine, but the difference between a nice flat screen and an old CRT is significant.
