Not a muscle car but still a classic.

Well finally got around to tearing down the 1971 VW Super Beetle and now I know why the engine was seazed up Shocked

Thats the number one cylinder, yeah the valve head isn't supposed to be there toothy9

Number 3 piston and number 1 piston side by side, can you tell whats wrong with this picture icon_scratch

Cylinder head showing the damage to the number 1 cylinder from the broken valve.

And thats how the engine looks right now. toothy9

Gonna go back with some new 85mm pistons and cylinders, and matching new heads.
Will have to replace the heater boxes and exhaust manifolds, and muffler as well.
The rest of the car is in great shape interior to the floor pans all in great shape.

So now you know where midi's been for a while..LOL

 HaHaHa Midi,

sweet cajun pie.... did you do that to the motor or did ya buy it that way??

many moons ago I played with those Dub.motors, they seem to go 1 of 2 ways, either they go back together and everything works great,or they just seem to find every concievable problem and decide to teach you a lesson. hope you find the latter in your case. thumbsup

Now who would of "floated" those valves...Hmmm.. The worst 1 I've seen cause a rod to crack the case, not pretty...

BTW opening the case usually means a complete line bore for reassembly,be forwarned. On the other hand if you have to split it,well mine aswell go with a stroke job and big bore kit. You'd be amazed at the power you can make, add a turbo blower and  expect to replace rear bumbers...LOL

Midi, she's a sweet little ride, hang on to it.... the prices are rising on those, besides the mpg's are pretty good too.
