Is is XBox only ghosth? Never done any of that. I hear now you can play games online through XBox or some other gaming platforms.
I am strictly a PC gaming guy.

No xbox here james, I too am a PC only guy. Unlike a lot of games, Fallout 3 is NOT multiplayer. Its set in in the Capitol, in the future, after a major Atomic war. So you have blocks of taller buildings that are collapsed, piles of rubble, surrounded by rock and rubble wastelands. Wood buildings have largely all burned. However unlike most games this one gives you PLENTY of space to play in. Very open ended and lots of wide open spaces. Also lots of subway tunnels and underground and hidden spaces. Very flexible also in terms of who you want your character to be, good? Bad? Neutral? Quests are there if you choose, but you can ignore them pretty much and just go hunt monsters if thats what you want. Lots of mutated animals to shoot at that will rip you to shreds if your not smart. Plus a few people scattered around, everything from supermutants, (Fe fi fo fum and just about as big and bright as your normal giant, one track mind, but they do SHOOT well.) to Mercanarys who have a contract on your hide. (didn't run into them until later in the game, and they are tough) Big thread over at the AH boards in the Oclub if your interested. Including screen shots, etc.

LOL Cyndi is a good woman. True for you both! Two birds with one stone. Not multiplayer. Wow, surprised it is not, yet so popular. I will take a peek at that thread for fun.

Well I am an addict for sure. 64 hours of game time in 5 days, you do the math. Went back and restarted my game from the first saved game, so I could reset some stats. Make a more balanced and neutral karma character (more options) Mr "I'm so squeaky clean it hurts" was just a bit limiting. Just finished an "almost" impossible rescue mission of Reilly's Rangers. All I can say is WOW, glad I was loaded when I started. Because I was out of everything by the time I was through. A girl scout could have knocked me out with a box of cookies.

Always a good choice, especially if you can afford it. Posted it there for those who can't mostly.
By the way watch OUT for deathclaws up in the NE corner of the map.

Thanks for the tip. Well I was born, grew up found my way out of the Vault, meandered into Megaton, learned the hard way that trying to beat the sheriff there to death with a baseball bat is not a wise idea..lol found the nuka-kola plant killed a few robots and so on...and some mutant giant cockroach in the cellar did me in.... midi

Try again, be nice to the sheriff. BTW there is some broad hiding out in a house just outside Megaton. She has 400 caps on her. Kill her if you like, or let her live for half. Then, don't beat up on the sherriff, actually don't beat up on anyone in Megaton unless your planning to blow the place.
Disarm the nuke and the sheriff will give you a house in town which is pretty handy. Then as you get caps go to Crater supply. One of the options is for a home health setup that will heal, restore limbs, and remove all radiation. Which comes in VERY very handy. The home lab is a joke, but the workbench can be handy. Or you can use the one in Crater Supply if your short on caps. Jukebox is just a radio tuned to GNR, not worth the caps. Coke machine is ok, but you have to stock it. All it does is make them cold.
Twice now I've ended up killing the silly robotic butler that comes with the house. Bonus is that he has a stash of flamer fuel.
House has 3 separate file cabinets for storing all those goodies. 2 downstairs, one upstairs, plus a desk. And of course the main thing, it has a bed where you can catch some Zzz's and heal up. Its DANGEROUS out there in the wasteland after dark.

FYI the mods are really starting to roll in for Fallout 3. There is an energy weapons rework by Skullmosh that I really like. Gives you a sweet Laser sniper rifle. But yesterday I found a real gem. I had not done much on the melee side, so I went back to my first saved game, changed name, juggled stats and skills and started fresh. Since this was going to be a mostly melee character I wanted a good melee weapon for him. Found that someone had made a Light Saber mod for F3. Comes in 6 colors, its slow to degrade, doesn't need ammunition. Run up to a bad guy, swish swish, arms and head go flying. Run up to a super mutant, swish swish swish, legs chopped off. Mole rats, and ghouls, swish swish, they dead, next target. Its amazingly fun, and funny as heck. btw best mod collection I've seen anywhere for F3 is here. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/categories.phpMy only complaint is that it seems to be slash only, can't lunge and stick the point in.

What do you want to know mal? I play on average 2 - 6 hours a day since it hit the shelves. I could write a guide, but too much work, leave me no time to play fallout.

I started out going for a hand to hand fighting specialist, but that seems hard I find it easier to shoot them lol. I ratted out the guy in the bar and he killed the sherrif and i have not dissarmed the bomb yet lol. I had a fun fight with the Super mutants in the police station, I was low on ammo and health by the time i got to the lower level so i played cat and mouse with them while drawing them over the mines i recovered from upstairs lol.
How do i pick locks? i managed it once but it was more by accident lol.

Personally I prefer saving Megaton, telling the Sherrif about Burke, then when burke goes to kill the sherriff, kill him myself. On lock picking, this is one of my top 4 skills. As there are constant rewards for being able to pick locks. Go to pick the lock, the key is to not put much force on the screwdriver. Start with the bobby pin straight up, rock the screwdriver lightly once. If it goes, keep going as there is a chance it may open it. If it "Jangles" and won't go,release, then try bobby pin 45 left, then 45 right. Unless its a very hard lock one of those 3 will get you close enough to see which quadrant the pin needs to be in. IE the screwdriver will rotate the lock. Then its just a matter of refining your pin position. Normally, if I'm careful, I can get 3 attempts with the screwdriver before breaking the pin. However until you learn to be gentle you'll break more pins. Remember where your best pin spot was, and continue from there with your next pin. If you exit, with the E key, the lock will reset, and you will have to start from scratch. So don't sweat losing a few pins, better to break 3 and get the lock as long as you have any pins left. The harder the lock, the fussier the pin location will be. On "easy" locks, anywhere in about a 30 degree arc of the right location will be close enough. On Hard locks you'll have to have the pin almost exactly on the right spot before it will open. Most locks with practice I can get with 1 or 2 pins. Also there is a mod "Explosive Entry" that lets you blow locks instead of pick them. How much explosive is required depends on how hard the lock is. Frag Grenades, mines, BottleCap Mines, Rockets, nuka grenades, plasma and pulse mines, Mini Nukes all work. Now obviously you don't want to waste a mini nuke on a ammo canister. But to blow the door at Fort Barrister to the Talon Company CO's quarters, well now that might be worth it. Mal do you have skype? If not would you be interested in hooking up in Ventrillo to talk Fallout 3 someday? I have a wealth of knowledge, and would love to share it. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/top.phpSingle best location for fallout3 mods, this is their top 50 list. At least half of these I have tried. Many of them are very very good. Weapon Mod kits Owned Repair Rethought Levelers Truck Trailer (Ultimate cheat mod, lets you totally tweak your character and skills right out of the vault) Freeplay after MQ (lets you continue to explore and enjoy Fallout after finishing the main story line quest.) Mods not on the top 50 (yet) that you might be interested in. A Steroids, adds a new chem to F3, Steroids in 3 strengths that make you run faster. But there is a significant chance of addiction. More Map Markers (puts names and fast travel to dozens of existing buildings & locations. There are too many weapons mods to list. If you let me know what your interested in, I'd be glad to share my experience. Personally I've been searching for the perfect sniper rifle, but haven't found it yet.

Sure Ghosth, we can hook up and talk about it, I have heard of skype, is it like vent?
ATM i havn't got very far, I completed the blood ties missions with the Family last night, that was why i was late into AH lol. I am helping with the book, doing the second chapter now. Also i saved Bigtown from the supermutants.
I think i will play Fallout as is for now, maybe after i will try some mods.
Not sure if I'm using VATS correctly, i hold the V key and select a target like it says in the manual, then i select the area i want to shoot and hit the E key. The game goes into slow motion showing me prone sighting down the rifle, but I dont seem to ever shoot.

Yep, scoped .44 is one of my 3 always carry weapons.
Combat shotgun, the 44, and a good sniper rifle.
Currently using the Vintorez auto sniper rifle, which I have tweaked and adjusted in the GECK to suit my style. Anyone interested in it?

If anyone is interested, here is the Vintorez Sniper rifle I use, with a few slight tweaks. http://www.332nd.org/dogs/Ghosth/Ghosthsniper.rarIt uses 5.56 ammo (same as the assault rifles, readily available) has a 20 shot clip, and a good scope. Not as good at truly long ranges as others, but a very good little killing machine at close to medium ranges. Full or semi auto, reasonable health, and nice tight groups. This girl will drop a supermutant with one shot if you crouch, and hit him in the head. I slowed down the full auto speed, upped the critical hit % a bit, and actually dropped damage below what the F3 sniper rifles are. Added the Victory Rifle Knockdown, so watch the bad guys carefully, they may get back up on you. Extract contents to your fallout 3/data folder, let it overwrite any files. Then start the fallout 3 launcher, click data files, then click the box for the Vintorez, then ok, then play. Author says that you should find some raiders and brotherhood outcasts carrying them. Or you can use the console to give yourself one. ` (tilde key) Player.additem 0x000EAB 1 If your only running one mod, the first " ox" would be "01" if your running 3 it might be 03000eab 1
