With the new version of Aces High, HTC has included new practice missions off line. They are only available on the ndisle map. From the bbs it looks like there will be a mission editor coming out in the future. But, I thought some of you guy's might be interested in changing the aircraft of off-line opponents now, before the editor is available.

The mission data is stored in a file called, "oneonone.mis" and it's located in a folder called "offmiss" under the Aces High II folder.

The first thing you want to do is make a backup copy of the "oneonone.mis" file, and put it in a different folder (like My Documents) for safe keeping.

Next copy the "oneonone.mis" file that is attached to this post. You can open the file with notepad or wordpad and then save it into your "offmiss" folder. Say yes to the prompt when it asks you to replace the "oneonone.mis" file

Then copy the "aircraftnumber.txt" file and save it into the "offmiss" folder

What you need to do to change aircraft is change the aircraft number in the "oneonone.mis" file. So to find the aircraft you want look at the "aircraftnumber.txt" file and note the numbers for the airplane you want to fly and the aircraft you want the enemy to fly. I've copied a small portion of the list here so you can follow my example;

Number   Model
0   P-51D
1   Bf109-K4
2   Spitfire Mk IX
3   B-17G
4   C-47A
5   La-5FN
7   N1K2-J
9   Fw190A-8
10   C.205
11   F4U-1D

Let's say you want to fly an F4U-1D against a N1K2-J. you can see that the Corsair is # 12 and the Niki is # 7.

Now if you open the oneonone.mis file with notepad it should look like this, What you want to do is find the bold underlined fields and change the numbers their.

NOTE: They will not be  in bold underline in notepad, I did that so you can find them easier in this example.

Once you have changed the numbers to the aircraft you'd like to fly make sure to save your changes.

That's it you should not change any other values, just the two fields highlighted above.

Now go into Aces High in offline mode with the ndisles map loaded. Now in the tower you'll see Practice Missions on the lower right side of the clipboard. When you select that you'll see two missions, One on One P51Ds East and One on One P51Ds West. If you select the east flight you'll fly the F4U-1D and if you select the west  flight you'll fly the NiK2-J.

You can set up any aircraft you want, it's fun and pretty straight forward. If you have any questions or problems feel free to drop me a line and I'll be glad to help. Or if you would rather have me change it for you I can but that might take a little longer.

Good luck and happy hunting!
Baumer

P.S. I can't attach the oneonone.mis file due to it's extension. You can download it from here,

When I pick the west to east, I end up at a base shooting me.  As in the default oneonone.mis file places my knight p51 at a bish airfield for launch.  Is this just my issue or is this the norm.  I can fly the east to west no problem, but the other way I get shot on the runway by ack.

I have not had an issue with either field firing at me on takeoff. If I remember correctly someone was having a similar problem and it had to do with default base rotation.

What field did you spawn into?

When I do the following this is what I spawn into;
east to west, bish at A1
west to east, knight at a22

NOTE: I started as a bish at A1 just like the default settings,

Hope that helps

Hmm, you tried messing with any of the other parameters? Wonder if you can change the number of planes in a flight yet...

I've worked with additional planes a bit and it seems rather unstable. The most I've done was a 4v4 and had some strange behavior. My wingman would try and fly inside my aircraft, not sure how to set separation. I'll probably just wait till the editor comes out, but I can show you what I've done if you want to try it your self.

First one was right on, but the second entry had a 1000 in where I expected a 0.

West To East
196608,10,1,1000,0,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,-83370.343819,0.000000,-30572.162808,0,0.000000

(Edit) I left the 1000, put a N1k where the 0 was and it worked, la5 vs N1k.
