I very seldom partake in tank combat becouse I don't do it enough to feel I'd be anything more then a target.  And when I do my shots tend not to hit any weak parts.  Now being the German tank nut that I am, and well read on tank tactics, shot placement in reality and in Aces High are often different.  For example hitting a T-34 in the turret ring, was very often a fatal shot to a t-34 or just about any tank for that matter.  But on here it glances off most of the time without any damage.  So if someone here is a good GV'er and has the time to take me out and give me some pointers and some target practice it would be much appreciated.

I have been trying to get good at tanks too. I with bigrat on this one. My problem is I can spot the enemy but I guess not fast enough, they are usually zero'd in on me by then Sad
I read some where on the AH forums there was or is a bug about turning down graphics detail to see gv's better
like through trees and hills.....is this still happening?
I have graphics turned up all the way. Is this bad for tanks?

Yes there is a bug with the graphic object detail slider that makes GV'ing currently not so fun.  Basically turning the detail to minimum allows you to see the tanks from a long ways away.

That being said, range estimating in tanks it the biggest skill.  If you are getting hits on the other guy, but aren't killing them, then I can't really help.  But if you need some help just ranging and getting a good target solution, I could help, but there are others in the squad who may be better.

daddog,

I'm normally in the training arena about every night around 8:00 central time flying.  But if you have a time that works good for you, just let me know when and I can probably be there.  Any help would be great, I'm pretty good in an Osti, just would like to be able to defend myself with a tank every once in a while.

Baumer is I think better than I am in the GV stuff guys.
At least when we practised for that FSO frame he had hits on me every time before I got hits on him.
Give him a shout if you see him.
