Last night after the Ostiwind training we went over to the AvA arena and tried to capture this week's objective, A23.

We upped out of V15 air start and climbed to the north. At twelve  thousand feet we leveled and turned west. Once due north of the target, we turned in for the bomb run. We drooped on target the many good hits on the first pass. We then continued south to prepare for a 180 degree turn and a second drop. Again several good hits, filling the text buffer for several of the pilots. We then turned east to return to base. As we were turning several enemy spitfires arrived and Begin to attack the rear planes.

A second sortie was repaired once we got back in the tower. We then asked for additional volunteers to join in the bomber sortie. Additionally we had fighter protection for our second inbound leg. This time we approached the target from the south east and meet stronger resistance approaching the target. Again many good droops were reported as we exited to the east under stronger enemy attack.

I had a BLAST! It was great time, I know we didn't get the base capture but, we worked well together and for only 10 pilots we inflicted maximum damage. I went back through the film and came up with the following BDA. (see attached) Thanks guys that was really fun,

It was great fun Baumer, and well executed!  From your BDA image I'd say we all filled up our text buffers!  I think we did the best possible on an unachievable goal.  I'm not sure anyone will be able to get this objective in the AvA.  The town is just too large and the down time too short.  You would need truly large numbers, and largely unopposed.  It didn't help, for instance, that the allies porked ords at all the closest bases.  No way heavy fighters could get back there quickly to do cleanup.
