Well there are a lot of gaming servers out there.
Public would be the way to go so we can just rotate the maps/terrains we want and set it up so we can join when we want and pick the sides we want.

The cost of gaming servers:

http://www.gameservers.com
Battle Field 2 server
.99 cents private
$1.49 public
They have quite a few demo servers we could check out.
64 player server would be $95.95 a month.
32 player server would be $47.95 a month.

http://www.ultimategameserver.com
Battle Field 2 server
64 player server would be $144.00 a month.
32 player server would be $72.00 a month.

http://www.gamesclan.com (In England)
Battle Field 2 server
64 player server would be 107 pounds a month.
32 player server would be 63.6 pounds a month.

http://www.velocity-servers.net/
Battle Field 2 server
64 player server would be $256.00 a month.
32 player server would be $144.00 a month.

http://www.vetwebhosting.com
Battle Field 2 server
64 player server would be $96.00 a month.
32 player server would be $48.00 a month.

http://www.fatpipeserver.com/
Battle Field 2 server (ranked)
64 player server would be $256.00 a month.
32 player server would be $184.00 a month.

http://www.solidgameservers.com/game/bf2
Battle Field 2 server
32 player server would be $64.00 a month.

http://usgameserver.com
Battle Field 2 server
64 player server would be $127.36 a month.
32 player server would be $63.68 a month.

http://www.speedygameservers.com/
Battle Field 2 server
64 player server would be $127.36 a month.
32 player server would be $80.00 a month.

Depending on the one we picked we could get a 32 public player server for as low as $8 a month. The advantage of renting our own server would be we could pick the sides and maps we want. At the 64 player limit we would expect to pay about $15 a month. Of course the more of us who signed up the cheaper it would be.

Currently player Project Reality on a regular or semi regular basis are:
daddog
sondog
68Falcon
Hamerd
Speede
LuckyI3
Teedog
Rymad (68Falcons adult son) played today.

If it was 10 of us we could get a 64 public server for about $10 a month.

Thoughts?

DD,

Is there anyway to get copies of BF2 (Full version) to other guys? At least to try to get some people to try it out.

DD before you jump on puchasing a server for the price you might better check on thier customer
service record first.

I have rented quite a few different servers over the years for different games, and founf that the "Cheaper priced" servers
are not always the best way to go. You want a host you know you can count on to fix a problem
or lend a hand if you are having dificulties with a mod or something.
Not all hosts are willing to help you out.

Most games server hosting companies have a pre- buy question thread in their forums
where you can ask some questions in advance and you'll get an answer from either the staff
or the customer base.

Gameservers.com is a pretty reputable game hosting company.

Hold on that middog. I don't want you spending the $ if others can't or are unwilling to do so.

We had a REAL good time tonight playing together. We found a server that did not auto balance so we could all be on the same side. We can look for those in the future!  thumbsup
daddog
sondog
middog
Speede
Teedog

68Falcon would have I am sure, but he had family over as he usually does on Sunday. ASAdog sounds like he might check it out. Also Hamered would want to play.

Same here Hamerd.

I suppose whoever makes the payment for the server could use a CC. If they take Paypal I could do it, but I don't do CC's any more. Have not for years. Years ago we made the mistake so many did and have just about payed them off. Still have one last CC to pay off.

In the past when we have helped squadies out we have transfered funds to my Paypal account. Could do that again, but again it would depend if they took Paypal.

Thanks for checking in to that Midi. Looking at your pics now...

Private would be a waist of time IMHO even though that is the cheapest. We could only play against each other. Sondog would be going to bed without his dinner every week.  nono

Public Ranked (the most expensive) is not worth the extra $. PR does not have a ranking system. Besides we would pretty much ignore the ranks as we would likely do our own ranking system as we do in AH.

Public Unranked would be the way to go. It is only $259 for six months. If 10 of us payed for it that would be about $26 for 6 months or $4.30 cents a month. That is cheap. I could swing that.

I could chip in.  My current rig doesn't play PR well, but I'm hoping to change that in Feb after my business trip.  I have the parts picked out, but don't want to order them until I have the time to do the build.

DD and guy's gameservers does take paypal as wel as they have whats called a "Clan Pay" deal also where,
There is a link and when someone pays money it goes into your server account. If the monthly or bi-anually amount is not in
your gameservers account it will deduct the remaining amount from you paypal account.
So it is fairly simple to get the payment's made.

Daddog is your paypal account setup to handel credit card donations, or payment's from members that want to
donate by credit card?

Let me know, my paypal account is a merchant account so I'm all set to go...

I think if we are going to do this we should get a confermation from every one that want to be involved,
and set aside the funds untill the first 6 mon. payment is raised and then purchase the server.

Then during the next 6 months we can keep every one informend on the account balance.

Since I have quiet a lot of game server administrating experince I'ld like to volinteer to be one of the server admins
if every one is ok with that.

Now as far as the squad C.O. for BF2 PR  I would like to nominate Sondog. thumbsup
I feel he is up to the task and would make a fine leader.

Yes it is.

I agree. Once we have the funds for 6 months then and only then make the purchase. If by chance a few more join us by the end of the six months then they can donate with the rest for the 2nd 6 months if it lasts that long. Just no telling.

Yes I would want to set you and really anyone else who paid as a Admin should they want to. And yes I am all for sondog as the C.O.  thumbsup He does better than all of us as far as I can tell. He also has been the over all commander in regular BF2 several times and has won.

I will put myself down for $26 toward the server. Who else is willing or able. Once we have the 10 donations we can make the purchase.

Oh lastly we found a server that does not do the auto balance so we can all play on the same side. It is called .:IGI:. PR.07 or something like that. I have the first part right. Smiley

thumbsup I'll return my empty beer bottles for the refund of five cents each to get the $26.00. How do I get the money to you? Or I could just send the beer bottles to you if California has a better return value - there's 17 cases of them.

Peace,

daddog
forHIM
mrmidi
LuckyI3
Teedog
Hamerd
ASAdog

That is 7 total so far. Smiley Need 3 or more guys to do this gents. Smiley
As far as the Paypal we can let Mrmidi handle it if he does not mind. Sounds like he is on top of how we setup the server and such.

Don’t send any funds yet guys. Lets wait and see how many want to do this.
