A song off a CD to a .wav file?  I want to put one on our squad site "In The Mood", but it needs to be in a .wav format to work.

I use music match juke box it will copy off a cd and save it to your hd as a wave or mp3 you can go to ZDnet and find converters there some are free so have 30 trila to do things like that then you dlete it when your done. and windows media player will also do that

cdex

seems to be about the best ripper you can get for windows. its free and open source.

[edit] Now that I think of it, you might need aspi drivers for it to work. Not sure. The only aspi drivers I know of if you dont have an adaptec card is the aspiME! release. Uh, if you neeed help finding them let me know. [/edit]

Another simple way is to just use Windows Media player.. Make sure you upgrade to version 9.0 though. I use it all the time.

Or try WINAMP - a great utility for free:

I have looked. I don't see how Windows media player will save and convert a song off a CD to a .wav file. Can one of you tell me how it will do that? I will try the others if Windows Media does not work.

It will convert the song to a .wma file ( just another type of compression, mp3 being the smallest ). You can covert it to mp3 if you want also. The way you do it is. Pick the cd and song in media player like you were going to just listen to it. Once you have selected it stop the song from playing. Now on the left there are a series of buttons. choose  "copy from cd" . Another screen will appear showing you the cd. Check mark the songs you want to rip. Next click "copy" in the upper right corner. It will go through the motions. The files will be under your "my music" default directory under a folder with the artist name.  Remeber this is with the newest version of media player...  version 9 .

Thanks Sunking. Downloaded WMP version 9 and have made the copy of the song I want to convert. Now how to I convert that .wma file to a .wav file?

The reason I want to convert it to a .wav file is so I can set it up to play on our squad site using FP2000.
