12/07/07 Okinawa Frame 2

Launched A30 in B flight and climbed high (17k) with my ki67.  I went to the left flank and found the carrier and tried to direct the rest of B squad to it.  I saw one FM2 that tried to stay with me at that alt, but I soon out ran him.  Since I had a poor line, I decided to extend and drop ord on the second pass.  I missed completely using the level bombing technique.  RTB'd to A20 while the rest of the pack went to A19.

Rearmed and took off with my 1 main plane.  I again climbed to an altitude of 11k before entering the search area.  The CV was still in the same place doing circles.  I heard reports of Middog hitting the CV and sure enough the roman candle radar tower led me straight in.  Since I did such a horrible job level bombing I decided to dive bomb the second time.  Flew slightly past the cv group and spotted a couple of co-alt allied planes.  I then rolled in and lined up on the cruiser.  Pickled my 8 x 100kg and hit it with some/all, well enough to drop it.  The afore mentioned allied planes along with the CV ack managed to take my stressed out wing off and I was done for the night.

My claim:  3 bombers upped, 1 lost to enemy, 2 landed safely, and 1 enemy cruiser now making an artificial reef for the fishes.

I wonder if I pinged you once when those F4F's were on us and then when the ack killed you on our run to the task group I got the kill for that. You were the last kill I got and after that third F4F you and I were not attacked by enemy aircraft. Dang. I will have to watch my film. I don't think I even hit you once, but I must have.

Dogma and I made a good run on the task group, but I don't think we hit anything. It had just finished turning when we made our run. It was the worst angle you can ask for when you have torps, (5 or 7 O'clock position). The fleet was moving away from us. Makes for a longer torp run and much more difficult to hit. Ack was nasty. I lost one buff before I was as close as I wanted to be. That is even with dogma taking the brunt of the ack as he was ahead of me. I lost all my bombers to the ack and two torps got off.

After that I joined sondog as a gunner. Problem was I became stuck on the runway as he took off. Then my system locked up. I had to reboot and at that point so I just watched him fly.

I have to say I am sorry about the call on rearming at the forward field. forHIM got it right. Sure enough we were attacked while rearming. I hope a lot of you managed to exit.

Really glad some of you managed to make it back to do some more damage. Well done! 
So what was left? CV and a couple destroyers?

We were at our minimum of pilots. Only 21 last night. Any less and we could have had some penalties.

One thing it did do about leaving the drones on the runway is... When I was gunning for T-Tex and we ran out of ammo.. We thought it was best to bail instead of getting shot down, we bailed and ended up in the drones on the runway... So we got a successful landing.. WTG Teeerex, too much fun as always.

Yes wish I knew  how to get the drones to come  back up after rearm was  tail gunning for Baumer and the 1st burst from the F2 took out the tell gun and he was to low for the top gun Baumer Left 2 good drones on the run way
