Was the squad split a good thing? Bad things? You have fun or would you rather not do it again. I heard some complaints and others sounded like they had fun.

I am looking over the film now and updating our roster. Smiley I should have some screen shots later.

Did any wingmen land some kills together?

I had a blast last night, like I do on all squad nights.
I really enjoy flying in the AvA arena. just wish it
was busier most nights.

As for the squad split,
Personally I'd rather be shot down by someone I know than a complete stranger.

I had mixed feelings about it. Certainly had a good time, but would rather have us all on the same side of course. Sondog and I had a great sortie when he landed 4 and I landed 3. That made our night to be sure.

Here are some screen shots you guys will enjoy. I put a couple more up in our private gallery. Just check out the Axis VS Allied screen shots in our gallery.

Four Mongrels on the way to save Bison who had two F6F’s on him.

Thanks to the six call from a squadie I was able to break at the last moment and survive this jump by a F4U

MACviper, Sondog, and Tsnow caught this F4U at the top of his zoom.

I enjoyed it but I think the setup hindered us.  The planeset was good but the CV's were too close to get any alt before you were either in the ACK or engaged.  I think a squad split might work better on a land setup.

I don't think we should abandon the idea though.  If enough good sticks / squads figure out that the 332n'd will be in the AVA on Friday nights at X time more and more of the will show up on a regular basis.    However, in order to make it lively enough to draw interest we might have to fly against each other for a few weeks / months.

Did not enjoy it at all.  Sorry, but I prefer to be honest about it.

Thanks Dogma. Was it because we split as a squad against each other or something else?

I appreciate you voicing your opinion. Smiley

Mixed reviews here.

Was a lot better once we had all the dogs in one pack again.

Was splitting the squad better than having no one to fly against? Hmmmm perhaps yes, maybe not.

IMO the F4u's should not have been enabled at the carriers. If they wanted to fly them in from a land based field
that would have been better.

Between the F4u almost hanging with the A6ms and the allies haveing the numbers advantage. (which they almost always will have in that setup) the first half pretty much sucked eggs. At one point I had 4 kills and no potential whatsoever of getting OUT far enough to be able to land.

However once the pack was reunited and the numbers swung our way there was some good fighting.
But by then I was getting burned out and frustration had taken its toll so I logged for the night.

I'd much prefer to find a DIFFERENT squad to fly against us fri nights in the AvA.
Would probably take some time, and coordinating, but IMO that would be the best possible setup.
Maybe I should have a talk with the AK's. The were tearing us up in mid war last week.  Smiley

I would rather have us split than not have anyone to fight. But, I don't like the zeke vs blue plane matchups -- way to hard to fight well. Their strengths are so opposite that to succeed the blue planes need to purely BnZ, and the zeks have to wait for the quick shot as they pass.

When I was a zeke, I hardly got a shot, and if I did then it was in a swarm that killed me in revenge. When I was an F4U, I wasnt patient enough to play the fight "smart" and I kept slowing down. I just find the "keep it fast, if there's no shot keep going and try again next time" soooo boring!

I quite agree with Simaril in this matter. Fighting against each other now and then is OK for me and it can be a great fun. This time though, the plane matchup was not very good due to F4U's. Fighting with Zero's against FM2's and F6F's would have been much more balanced, but like you all saw, Zekes had not much chance but get some quick snapshots and have a higher hand that way.

I was there later at Saturday, and the situation was just like Ghosth  said, 5 F4U's against two Zero's. I got some, but was mostly forced to RTB damaged or got killed.

We have had inner squad fights before, with better setup, and I've always enjoyed it a lot ! For me, it is always better going to AVA and split up for historical matchup than going to MA and have a common furball against whatever there is flying. Flying as a whole squad is great as well, but we will have quite a few opportunities for that, thinking the size of us on the same side. I don't like ENY values hindering our flights very much.

Cheers!

thanks for the call... as I told Daddog, I would prefer not to fight squadmates on a regular basis or in an event.  Last Friday I must have been having a bad night or something, couldn't hit a barn door, was getting pretty pissed off. I don't want to get angry at squaddies, and I was, so I logged  BangHead .  I wasn't good with the planes we had and hadn't had time to scrub up on them.

If I want to fight someone in the squad, I would prefer to do it in the DA, one on one or pinging each other in the TA for fun.

The ironic thing is that I had recently suggested that we do that exact thing. Talk about a backfire.

Good synopsis, Sim, I agree completely.  The planesets were so dissimilar as to make the fights ridiculous, and as for me, I was trying to stallfight an F4U against the Zekes and not winning at all.
