AD ASTRA PER ASPERA

sorry guys

Newsweek has put together a compilation of audio and video letters from soldiers who have fallen in Iraq.  It's powerful, emotional, and hard to watch.

There's not a dry adult eye in my house at the moment but I wanted to share.

the videos are the part that really got to us. DDog there's some in there you might use for your classes or might not.. That's up to you sir

I will check it out at work with the T1. I am always looking for material that they can write about. Looking forward to giving it a peek. Smiley

You might want to watch the videos alone first DDog.  They hit us really close to home.

Checked it out this morning, but some students came in early as they often do just to hang out. I will listen to more this afternoon. Will let you know if I use any of it. I think I will. Smiley

Well... they all said it was depressing and some wanted to know why I showed it to them. I had them watch it right "before" I told them to write Larry and thank him for his service. I used the movies to set the stage so to speak. We talked about sacrifice and loss and how we should respond to those serving irregardless of how we feel about the war and its justification.

glad your teaching your students, and explaining to them why we were soldiers, why we served, why we do what we do. I is important that thry know the facts,  if it wasnt for those from 1776 to present we coulod not guess what the US would be like, and what price something simple as freedom a lot of pepole take for granted cost in human life and suffering, But the few that chose the path to join the armed forces, my hats are off to them,

thanks DD for teaching them well
