I was not sure about if I was to write this at all, but then I thought it would be nice that you know what was going on here at my end lately.
As you have noticed recently I am probably number 1 in the whole community when counting amount of discos per hours flown in arenas. This has been going on for quite a while now, sometimes better sometimes worse. There's not many squad night from last months I've been up and running for the whole time.

The worst time for me ever was at Friday two weeks back. I could take off and reach the hostiles only once, got shot down by the bomber formation then, and discoed right after that. Then it was nothing but taking off, heading to the enemy field and BAM, disco in the halfway. I am quite a silent guy when I'm sober and you've got used to it, so you didn't have to think why Harppa doesn't talk at all. Well, to be honest I was pissed for the whole thing, computers, Aces high, early mornings etc. thinking what is the purpose for this, waking up early at Saturday morning to watch the dreaded message: lost UDP ... all over again. I spent my time with relogging.

A week ago, I was luckier, only a couple of discos, but I was concerned about it all time, and that definitely was bothering me and my flying. I was only waiting for the next disco coming. How can one fly and take effectively part in the action in the situation like that ! There was no point for joining any missions. I tried it With Simaril's NOE raid, and was kicked out when only 1/3 of the flight was done.
Anyway, because of these two squad nights, I made up my mind that something has to be done to make things better.

I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows using the genuine copy of WinXP I've purchased few years back. I usually go playing with the 'corporate edition' due to pain in registration process. Well it was not so bad after all, all I had to do was to call for registration service, push some buttons in my cell phone and listen to the machine which gave me the security code. That's it, then it was nothing but updating for a while.
I also bought a new D-link network adapter to make sure my connection is not messed because of the bad card. I was using Nvidia built-in network adapter before, and I believe that was the probable cause for my problems. I have another computer for my kids with the same motherboard, but with the PCI adapter, and there has not been such problems with the connection I was suffering.
And for the final, I updated the firmware of my ADSL modem. I am a little bit concerned with things like that thinking what if I mess it all for the point I have to go for shopping once again. The firmware update worked like a charm, quite automatically. I suppose I was thinking of my earlier experiences with BIOS updates years ago, when everything was a bit more complicated, and that made me worried.
So, today was my first squad night with the 'new' system and everything was working fluently, no warping, no discoing, no problems whatsoever. Of course, it can be the network itself, but with my efforts to better things up, I'm counting on that my connection is more stable from now on. I was really enjoying flying today over the long time, even though I was not much of use there. It just feels great when everything is working as expected.

By the way Daddog, there was some omelett with ham and tomatoes, crispy bread, cheese, yoghurt and cereals, fruit and tea as a breakfast this morning...
