Red baron and uh, blue max I think were my only ww1 sims. I think blue max was made by microprose? It wasn't nearly as good as red baron.

never played any ww1 boardgames.

Was it "Richtofen's War"? Myu brother and I played that all the time, though he was way more into it than I was. Got him a ww2 version for birhtday, which he played solo a lot...

But yeah, Red Baron was my first and favorite flight sim (even though I pretty much stank at it).

Yes that was it!  I had a streak of 84 kills in that game before some of my buddies finally got me! My favorite ride was the D7. Smiley Ah the memories!

It's based on the Strike Fighters Engine.

Should get a good mix of planes in this one.  Not too many with the initial release but the community will go nuts with it.

Is it MMPOL or rooms of 8, 16, 32 players?

First Eagles is pretty good for a "lite" flight sim. It's very enjoyable, with virtually unlimited customization. There's also a team that's cranking out planes by the boatload.

The only downside is that realism is not their strong suit. You can't even start your own engine in the game. When you launch a mission, the engine is already started!

For those looking for a more realistic WWI flight sim, check out "Over Flanders Fields"  http://www.overflandersfields.com/

shocked Ooooh, Aaaaah! I just viewed the movies. Very impressive indeed!  thumbsup

Do you fly this OFF? If so, what's your input?

I'm about to reload my CFS3, and then down load this conversion to give it a try.

Thanks!

Hey ASAdog!

I haven't downloaded and flown "phase two" of OFF, but I have flown "phase one", and IMO it's the best WWI air combat sim out there right now. I've heard that phase two is even better. It's on my list of things to do this weekend, besides the usual honeydo's.

It took me 6 - 7 hrs to download all of it. I am having a few run errors, but this should be fixed with some graphics etc... adjustments.

The little flying I've been able to do so far has been pretty awsome though. WWI aircraft definately have some different flying characteristics from WWII aircraft, which I'll have to get used to.

The visuals and battle effects (both airand ground based) are great!

I'll post again later and tell you how it's going.

Peace,
