HTC better get it in gear.

Just in time too, starting to get bored of the MA gangbang wars.

Yeah I read that, but it appears Oleg is about 1.5 years out from betting BOB released or did I misinterpret those statements.  I do agree that an IL2 or his new engine on a MMO would be cool.

Your right about AH SunKing.

A lot were disappointed with the AH2 release. Nothing new just an updated engine we could not see. Since then we have had some face lifts and some minor eye candy by sudz, but that is all. If they don’t get it out by Christmas my guess is the numbers will start dropping dramatically. My two cents.

I don't think the Combat Theater is gonna really appeal to most of the current subscriber base.  The ones that do the events, it will probably interest. The ones who like the MA for what it is will not be taken in by the CT.

However, when the CT is done, that means work can shift back to adding planes and other goodies that all theaters can use.

Hmm, Hitech should do a Korean arena. MiG15's vs F86 Sabres (and a really late model P-51 and the A-1 Skyraider!)

I think your right Nif, on all counts. Once it is done they will be back to building new AC. I would expect many new ones next year that the MA players will enjoy. The CT will pull those that like events, then also new subscribers.

In all honesty, the CT really smells like Nessie right now.

IF the CT ever comes out, I'll return to AH to try it. But I haven't much hope left. The reasonable amount of time to make a beta version has been passed a loooooong time ago....
I mean, in a little less than one year, HT and Pyro were able to write (almost  Wink ) from scratch the beta version of a new MMO flightsim (with a new graphic engine to boot). It's been... I do'nt remember, like 2.5 years??? since they announced a mission generator and we still have NOTHING to see.

It is well possible that HTC is struggling with untold problems but their reputation is now hurting badly.

Here's my take on this CT spinoff.

It will be all the rage for a month or two. Everyone will be flying and scorewhoring. Once the missions start to get stale and repeat along with the the powerup crap geting old... its back to the same ole same ole. MA and SEA.

It really sucks that they aren't even adding content right now. I don't understand how they don't see that new content keeps the faithful veterans in house.

I'm looking forward to BOB:SOW realeasing near Xmas if all goes to plan. They've said they will release expansions for that game too as they did with FB constantly increasing the flyable aircraft, terrains and AI planes.... and then an online arena a year or so later? wow.

I have to agree sunking.
New planes, new vehicles, new terrains, changes to MA gameplay would have kept me around.

Waiting for TOD/CT just isn't going to keep me there.

Frankly its been almost 3 years now & not much to show for it.

Sure they want your money Swager! I would like to see you back flying with us!

Well the CT will make it or break it for me. Another year or so. After that if Aces High is still stagnant in the development cycle I will be looking for a new home for our squad and who would be willing to follow me.

I can see you flying the IL2 games series.  No monthly fee. Able to play Coop with your son, online and offline together. Online servers host dogfight servers, coop mission servers , axis vs allie missions ect. You pretty much get everything AH2 offers in the airwar except the number of players in one arena and the ground/strat war.

Alot of the old school Vets from Aces High are still around flying Il-2.
I'm a member of a couple private forums on the AH BBS for LW squads that actively talk flying IL-2 daily. They fly the very realistic servers. ie   no icons, no map icons, full control of aircraft ect. Wotan, Lazerus, Moot, Elysian, ect.. all the great LW sticks of old AH that left are in that game now.

A cheap way to get your WW2 sim fix.

Il-2 for your air war - one itme fee
Red Orchestra - Infantry and Tank warfare - one time fee
Comcast Mission - WW2 Strart - one time fee
( the upcoming )Theater of War - WW2 Strat - one time fee
(The demo) Faces Of War - WW2 Strat - one time fee

A thought on IL-2....

Woolie owns his own local IPS now. I have permission to host a game server if I had the box to do it. Full bandwidth wouldn't be an issue after business hours. Just a thought if anyone wanted to check out the other side of the fence.

Played IL2, and I can say that I'm not very impressed.

I'm with Dogma, looks ok but just doesn't "feel" like flying.
Feels like a plane graphic balancing on an invisible ball.

let me know if you find something that would really be worth trying out...

I'm not much into flying Russian AC or LW ac neither have really been what i want to do.

i started flying WB and continue to fly AH because i enjoy flying American iron. especially the fast high horsepower birds.

I've been back flying for just shy of a 1 1/2 yrs and am already back to where i get one maybe two nights a week if i am lucky where i find myself in a area where the competition gets my blood pumping. tho the one area i need the most work in is the wingman/squad organized action. because of my choice of AC and flying style leaves me flying in this type of set up only 3 times a month and i am not sure Tod or what ever they call it when it does come out will give me anymore time in this style of flying. it will all depend on how it all works out and if there are enough people on that i actually get to fly with people against other people without allot of AI around.
