Hmm, I don't know off the top of my head any real time combat fantasy games that have a LAN component. The old Diablo II game you can play online, but I'm not sure how that works as I never really liked that game.

Personally, I like the storyline style gameplay of NWN and Knights of the Old Republic (the original is probably one of my favorite RPGs ever, but the combat is pretty boring.)

Oblivion has pretty good real time combat, but there isn't a multiplayer option with it.

Rgr. Sondog likes the story lines too.. at least I think he does.

I played it again last night for about an hour. Just not my cup of tea. Sorry Nifty.

I bet someone could make a pretty penny if they came out with a real time combat sword play game.

For example:

BF2                    ?
Assault =            Warrior
Engineer =          Dwarf
Medic =              Healer
Anti Tank =        Ork
Sniper =             Elf
Special Forces =  Wizard

Those each would have their own types of weapons and tools. Different maps and different objectives.
Rescue someone.
Fight the dragon.
Storm the castle.
Fight the Orks.

You get the idea. Use the BF2 engine and I bet it would be a hit. Smiley Well it would for me. Smiley

LOL Des! That is quite an offer!

Well I am trying out NWN. Honestly I am not happy with it so far. Just not what I was looking for. Sondog plays a Starwars game that is setup much like NWN and I could never get into it, (Starwars Knights of the Old Republic). Honestly I was looking for some thing that is a cross between Battlefield 2 and something with sword play. Real time action! I just don’t care for the wandering around looking for the black smith who can tell you where the tanner is and he might have the key to the dungeon where you “might” find the dragons tooth you are looking for, which is of course needed to give to the old hag so she will trade you for the silver dagger that you need to give to the daughter of Lord Polygamy. Wink

Give me some doors to bash down, some Orks to fight with the clanging of swords and the swoosh of arrows and toss in some elves and wizards for fun. Smiley

I will play with it for another week or so guys, but don’t get your hopes up. My gut feeling is one of you will be the recipient of a new NWN game. Smiley

If you like something that is on your level of maturity...and is like reading a book?!

I would try, "Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines", played it for about 3 months straight.  Tons of things to do, different endings.  Also the online roleplaying that is envolved surpases the fun I have had with any book.

New might n magic game has swords. and mages. Looks a lot like hexen. Well, if hexen wasn't made 10 years ago.

Most fantasy games are 3rd person. Ultima, Diablo (and spinoffs), WoW, etc. are all 3rd person and either turn based or realtime.

I've eyed this game when it came out. I had played the dice and paper RPG Vampire: The Masquerade a bit (I was a big fan of Anne Rice's novels back then) and I was really looking forward to it. However, the reviews weren't too good.

Is there a patch fixing all the old issues? If it's the case, I probably won't very long  grin
