I have been looking for something different to play. Anyone play that? Is it "just" online or do they have a world in a box?

Ok, nix that then. Doubt I could play it on my connect, but I did read on the box the online play is free.

Was looking for some kind of midevil/fantisy/cool graphics kind of game that Jed and I could play over a LAN together.

I've been playing titan quest this weekend. Really fun. Was looking for a diablo clone, and this is about as close to diablo as you can get without the blizzard logo.

You can play it either single player or multi co-op. Pretty fun single player, I might have to buy it to play multi.

daddog, if you're looking for something you and Jed can play over the LAN, look into Neverwinter Nights.  There are tons of user created modules for the game, and I'm sure a good portion of them would work well for two players (as well as being kid friendly in the language department.)

no prob. If you two end up getting it, let me know and I can reinstall it on my comp. We can find a module the 3 of us could play (if the bandwidth requirements are too much for both of you to connect to my machine.)

Though depending on how it connects, might be easier if you run the server, and have Jed's computer connect on the internal IP and me connect on the external IP. I haven't done online with it but once or twice, so I don't remember how it connects.

How much is it now a days? I actually looked at it at Fry's today, but it looked like a module for 19.99. Yet is said it was NWN. I looked it over and could not tell. Could not find someone to help answer my question.

So Jed and I could do a co-op in that game? Can we save co-op's or are they just a short action frame?

Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition is the latest "version."

When you play through a module, you can save it at any point. At least you can in single player, I'm sure you can in multiplayer as well.

It is rated "Mature" for blood and violence though. There are some areas that are gory in terms of blood and dismembered people being on the ground, but I do not recall seeing blood flying when you attack someone or someone attacks you.  In the main stories that come with the game, there are probably a few "colorful" words and at least one area that involves the "oldest profession in the world" (though you don't see anything, but the dialog is suggestive.)

Other modules you download from websites, like http://nwvault.ign.com

On that site, you can search the modules by specific things like Rating (Everyone, Teen, etc) and what level the module is geared towards.  Find one that looks appropriate, and download it. I haven't played in a long time, so I don't remember exactly how to get the module loaded and going.

Well... maybe I will get it for myself now. I will let you know if I do. Momdog will not go for what you describe nono, as far as Jed playing.  This Saturday I have to drive north again, but just for part of the day. I will head into Fry's again. Smiley

sure thing.  if you do get it, we can look at some of the modules rated "everyone" and see if those are really considered "everyone."   icon_salut

the edition i have i do not remember it being all that offensive and rather tame by today standards. but then last time i played it was in 2002 i think shortly after i left EQ. back then there wasn't any add ons or mods u could get for it and after playing the single player mode i think i went on line with it once or twice. but like i said i had just got done playing EQ where i had a 63 wiz and a 61 SK and NN was rather like playing on easy mode after EQ.

Ive played NWN since it came out. It is a great game.  The graphics are a bit dated anymore but still a great ride. Never played it online.

I think you can dial down the gore. I have the 'diamond' box here and it is rated T-M (Teen to mature).

I played a lot of the user modules, I think the site is nwnvault.com or something... There were some really excellent ones and with the improved content editors, I'm sure there are a lot more.

Ok, that is good to hear.

I am looking for something to give me a break from Aces High when I am tired of flying. Have been enjoying Battle Field 2 for about 2 years now. That is my break from Aces High game, but I am ready for something different. I think I buy a game about once every 18 months or so. Not very often. Smiley Docdog has sent me more games over the years than I have bought. lol

If I find something I like I tend to stick with it. Kinda like this squad thing. Wink

[blatant hijack]

When are you guys gonna give a shot to Eve Online when you are temporarily burned out with AH? protest

It would be nice to have some of you there... The 2 week trial is completely free, no credit card needed.

I'll give 1 million isk (the game currency, you start with 20K) to the first who signs up for the trial!!  evil

Ghosth, you like SF...? Nifty, you're into MMORPG...? Daddog & son?

If I do play that, it will only be for the 2 weeks trial. I limit myself to two subscriptions at any time, and WWIIOL and AH have that at the moment. Smiley

Ooo, we have more people with NWN? After Daddog gets the feel of the game, we should play together! We can make some new characters and form up a proper D&D party and kick some goblin and kobold butt!  Cheesy

Fair enough, Nifty. Anyway, if you stop playing after the trial, you character is kept in 'a fridge' for you if you eventually come back later as a paying subscriber.

OTOH, if I stumble upon NWN at a reasonable price, I might buy it to give it a try.

LOL Des! That is quite an offer!

Well I am trying out NWN. Honestly I am not happy with it so far. Just not what I was looking for. Sondog plays a Starwars game that is setup much like NWN and I could never get into it, (Starwars Knights of the Old Republic). Honestly I was looking for some thing that is a cross between Battlefield 2 and something with sword play. Real time action! I just don’t care for the wandering around looking for the black smith who can tell you where the tanner is and he might have the key to the dungeon where you “might” find the dragons tooth you are looking for, which is of course needed to give to the old hag so she will trade you for the silver dagger that you need to give to the daughter of Lord Polygamy. Wink

Give me some doors to bash down, some Orks to fight with the clanging of swords and the swoosh of arrows and toss in some elves and wizards for fun. Smiley

I will play with it for another week or so guys, but don’t get your hopes up. My gut feeling is one of you will be the recipient of a new NWN game. Smiley
