Not a good night for me. I was not in the best of moods yesterday and brought the B.S. from work home with me. I took the kids right to the park when I got home for some 'therapy' nothing quite like playing on the swings with the young ones to make the world go away for a short while. Due to the playtime the kids bedtime was right at roll. I rolled 5 mins late and met up over target. Shortly after that I joined the attack on the buffs. I picked a group and was patiently slashing at it. After my second pass one was aflame, another pouring smoke. But a 109 arrived to spoil my fun. I evaded and ended up dead 6 on another squadron of buffs. I opened up on em, but took a BB right in the windscreen. I was wounded and had to disengage. I was going to make for the nearest airfield but was blacking out quite frequently. I ended up setting down on a nearby Vehicle field and taxi'd into the hangar and exited. It was fun listening to you on vox and then watching with the CM eye. Mak, you my friend were almost jumped and blowed up Nifty, the AH gods are punishing you for leaving the game. Last FSO you were just late to the action, this frame you set a record for assists. LOL! Mak, make Friday nights a regular part of your program, we need 5 or 6 kills a night from you!

Teedog got the "biscuit", as he glided his damaged craft for many miles, only to taxi to a stop a foot short of the pad. I mean, c'mon, he was at the base. And as for my last "assist", I chased that 88 for 10 minutes before splashing him. I knew it was going to be an assist, as one ping and his wing fell off. A non-squadie got that kill.
Some nights, peanuts, some nights shells. I got peanuts this time, as several kills came after the unsuspecting quarry turned perfectly into my sights. I remember thinking, "ok, turn right for me..." and then he would. At D200, those 8 50's will chew a plane to pieces.
I like the 47 a little more since practicing in them all week. The views are miserable to the rear with TrackerIR. In fact, using the tracker system has caused me to start flying planes based on their views, not their performance. One thing I would like to share is how much I feel trim is helping me. Freeing up my hat switch (due to the TrackerIR) has allowed me to map my elevator trim to the up and down movement; I have "combat trim" set to the left position, and dive brakes to the right. I think I am going to put "select Weapon" to the right, as I don't fly much with dive brakes. Anyway, using the trim in turns and having the ability to quickly re-engage the combat trim is really helping. If you really want to se how much it helps, try the zeke. Get into a max level turn, then engage full up elevator trim. It helps to be chasing someone, as then you will really see how quickly you come around on them. If you're not using trim, TRY IT!!

Does anyone else hate P-38's like I do? If I see one, I will bypass a formation of enemy C-47's and go for it. Spit 16's are a close second.

I'll start my AAR at the point where Daddog sent the wayward pair northwest to scout. We formed up and headed northwest to a76 area. We were cruising at abou 20 angels when we spotted a very large group of cons. Maddog sured ahead to identify them. The first plane we saw was a friendly, buzzing & harassin the bomber formation, but didn't see any escort on the JU88s. Maddog using his better judgement was trying to disengage and get back to the group. Since I hadn't seen any escort, I egged him on to attack. So we did. I made a good run at a formation and nailed the lead ju-88 with a good burst of cannon and 50 cals. I saw pieces fall off, but not enough to take it down. I also racked the left hand bird with some 50 cals.
About that time I looked back and saw way to many escorts arrive. I think I counted 3 or 4 on my six and another 3 or so on Maddog. We like wise fools, dove to drag the escort low. Most followed for a while until the CO must have screamed at them to get back up to the buffs. By this time we'd lost track of the buffs and were attempting to climb back to the city.
We passed by a lone 109 who feinted a run on us and as we continued on, either this original 109 and a wingman or a new pair engaged us. They had alt and speed. Maddog and I split left & right to make the attackers choose one of us. Maddog drew the attackers. I circled and attempted to get on their sixes, but they zoom climbed and started doing tag team attacks. One would dive and attack one of us and we'd turn to face them and the other would attack. This went on and on and we kept getting lower and lower. During this entire time, I only had a low probability passing shot on one of the two and I missed. One of them hit Maddog's 38 in an engine/wing causing it to start smoking. And the fight continued with them attacking and Maddog & I evading. I then didn't evade well enough and one of the 109's got some good hits on my 38's tail section and off it went. I ejected and pulled the cord. I then tried to keep giving Maddog calls to break, but he was soon down also. About this time I saw Nifty and a couple of other Mongrels come in at which time the fight progressed out of my view so I hit the call for Air Rescue and got back to base.
The logs showed I actually did enough damage on that first Ju-88 to get the kill credit. Thanks to whoever actually got the kill.
Maddog: sorry about choosing to engage. In hindsight, it would have been better to regroup.

When did our squad get good? We have torn them up for going on three FSO's in a row! I remember 6 of us chasing a lone plane not long ago and we all got blammed for our stupidity ... now we got guys taking down 4 or 5 a frame.
Well done dogs!

I hear you Skernsk. We have seen some improvement in the past couple of years. Heavy go to “my computer” then “C Drive” then “Program files” then “HTC” and then “Aces High”. Finally go to films. Find the one of that squad night. Just double click on it and they will open up. That is how to find it. If you want to burn it to a CD or any other films just open your burner software and scroll to that HTC directory that has the films. Pick the ones you want to burn on the CD.

Or use an FTP program and upload the one to this site using the information in the private section (website & forum information).
Daddog -- you want me to upload the wayward pair's film?

Sorry, but I have tried for 30 minutes to figure out how I copied that last film I sent you. I must have a program on my computer that will do it, but can't figure it out for the life of me. What program would I likely have on my Best Buy bundled computer?

The username has to have the @332nd.org after it when you login. Any easy graphical FTP program is SmartFTP available on download at http://www.smartftp.com/download/ and is free for personal use. I will send you screen shots of my SmartFTP setup and see if you that will work. In the mean time, just email me the film 332nd.forhim AT gmail DOT com

Tried every email program I have, can't send the file due to it being too large. (another 45 minutes spent trying).
Thanks for trying to help. I'll try and download the program you mentioned later this week.

I was sitting there, minding my own business plinking away with my 4 lil 0.50 cals when this big ol' plane comes zooming past with guns a blazin and blows up that 109! If anyone listens to the VOX on their film around that time you'll hear me say something like "Gos, you just scared the crap outta me!"

Tagging 9 enemy if you are nifty is not too hard. Doing it without shooting down at least one squaddie (if you are nifty) is darn near impossible.

Hey Skernsk... make sure you announce on VOX when you're going into the bombsight to calibrate. However, don't be surprised when you come back out and see your two drones going down in flames.
