I play that game alot with a local buddy. It's a resource hog to say the least. 2 gig is what the majority argee BF2 needs to run smooth. The expansion was just released last week. I really like it because it is mainly infantry combat... no spawn raping Jets and Helio compared to the orginal maps..

Another thing to look forward to is the best WW2 mod for BF2. It's called Forgotten Hope. It's a realism mod that has a ton of models and the slight feel of WW2OL ie:  bullet penetration vs different armour on tanks ect.. When it's released grab it. But do it from work, the orginal BF1 mod was almost a gig download  :smash3:

Get BF2 hands down..   COD2 is just a bumpmapped rehash of the 1st game with tons of cheats already out. The players tried to do a boycott one weekend cause the cheats are so many.

COD2 doesnt even have ragdoll.

BF2 has ragdoll, anit-cheat,  vehicle/aircraft  and a huge mod community..

Swager I played both demos several times. I enjoyed Battlefield 2 significantly more than Call of Duty. Hence that is why I bought Battlefield 2.

Ragdoll is when a player is killed they don't die with a scripted death sequence..ie  ww20l . where they just fall on their faces.


Ragdoll simulates gravity. If you get shot close by a high caliber weapon you go flying backwards... get shot in the right arm you spin backward. ..ect..

In this picture you'll see everyone died in a unique pose due to ragdoll vs the old games where every died the same way ending up in the same position on the ground.

It's pretty much the standard now.

Jed and I would play on it because they would not kick us off.  LOL They, meaning you midi. Due to my dial up when ever I play online I just get booted so I don't even bother to try any more.

Docdog said he was going to send me some mods that would allow Jed and I to play co-op. Right now I don't see a way. I remember in BF1942 he and I would co-op all the time against the AI. Does not BF2 have AI for co-op missions?

Yes you can little midi and I do it every day.
first off are you using a router to connect between pc's
and if so so you know you machines IP address and sondogs ip address,
if not open a windows command prompt on each machine and type
ipconfig on each machine to get it's ip, if you already know it disregard
that part..

next one of you will start a Single player game....

after that game is started the other will start a multi-player game and
click on the "connect to IP" tab and type in the ip address of the one playing single player

boda bing boda boom coop play with AI.

I have a question for the collective minds out there.  
I bought BF2 played the hell out of it till the patches started coming out.
Once I patched it could not have the game launch.

Like an idiot I bought the expansion hoping that it would fix all my problems.
Guess what it did not do?
Well now I have BF2 and expansion that I can not play.
Anyone have any ideas.

Got a Athlon 64 3700+, 2 gigs 400 ddr ram, 200gig brand new SATA hardrive. CD rw, and DVD rw.
Broadband Cable and 6600GT PCI e card.

Hey Doc little midi and I had that same problem.
Come to find out we had to put the patches in in order,
1.02
1.03
1.12

I to was very frustrated we both got this game for christmas mine was version
1.03

and his was version 1.00 I tried to add the 1.12 patch to his and it wouldn't run
but mine did, so I don't know what version you started with but thats a thought

I am working on setting the server up on my extra machine,
I'm gonna make it like a 10 or 12 man server, just have
to get all the ports opened up correctly, as soon as I
get that straight I'll post the info in this thread, hopefully
I can get it all figured out before saturday and we can
jump on it.
I want to test the Voice Over IP server part of it as well,
but not sure how much it will lag the server, but either way
it will be nice to have a private place to play BF2 when we want.
Still haven't come across a mod to enable AI in the multiplayer server.
