Was not satisfied with how my Logitech MX300 USB headphones were performing in WW2OL, as these are not closed ear phones. I just felt that I might be missing something, sound-wise.

So, last night at Best Buy, I saw that they were now carrying Altec Lansing AHS-502 Headphones. For $39 thought it would be worth a shot, and I could always return them if they weren't an improvement. Well, not only are they closed ear phones, but when I plugged them into the ports, my onboard SoundMax sound card detected them, and automagically set them up for me.  Couldn't have been easier.

Booted up WW2OL, spawned at a city under attack by Panzers & ei, and "OH MY GOD!" What a difference. More bass, more spatial separation, easier to tell where the panzers were and where shots were coming from. In short, I am estatic! These new phones has kicked my WW2OL experience up about ten notches!

Only thing left to do it speak with someone on TS to see how good the microphone is.

I love it when a minor change can make a major difference to game play quality. Smiley

Interesting. I was just looking to pick up a pair of those too. I found this Link  I was at the local Best Buy yesterday and they had no headphones.

Plantronics also sells a gaming headset with the same specs Link which I think are just the audio .90 with a new name.

I have the Plantronics DSP-500 USB version called "GameCom Pro I" on that website. They have very good sound and I'm pleased with the quality. They've been dropped about a 100 times from about 3 feet and still are kicking. Good mic also.

Swager, Sennheiser is arguably the best manufacturer of headphones in the audiophile world, so I bet your new phones will sound awesome.  My purchase of the Altec Lansing was an impulse purchase all the way

Swager it's okay to be a dumbutt once in a while - I tried to throw a grendade out a window and threw a beautiful 'strike' right into the wall 4 feet away.  Happend in front of several friendlies and there were all kinds of 'lol' and whatnot on the buffer.

I respawn and promplty threw strike 2 into the same wall .... I have not thrown a grenade while inside a building since.

Wanker are yours large? How long is the mic? Do the ear phone cover your ears to block out other noise?

The Altecs are large covering your whole ear. The mic boom is huge, long and easy to position the way you want. I recommend them.

Yes, Daddog, the headphones cover my easr completely, and you'll be happy to know that the mic is longer than the Logitech mic's, so it should be long enough for you.  The headphones do block out all extraneous noise, too.

So far, I love them.

They are on order. Smiley

I have some old (about 5 years) Labtech head set and mic. They died about 2 years ago, but I had to start using them again (when Jed broke his head set) and for some reason they were working again fairly well. Maybe they needed a rest. lol Anyway the past couple of months they are dieing again... I need a new set.

They remind me of those cans you had at the Texas Con. You'll like em. Though if you have a big head like me, they crush your ears after a bit.
