The 332nd Flying Mongrels of Aces High

Squadron Philosophy

Our fundamental principle when we fly Aces High is to have fun and make friends. Speaking for myself in the past 11 years while I have been flying in various sims I have made several friends. Most of which are the fellows in my own squadron, but others that are not. We don't mind competitive spirits as long as a certain goal does not become the focus of why you are flying, such as attaining a certain number of kills in one sortie. We look for members that are willing to give up a kill to go save a squad mates who is in trouble. If you join our ranks, please, just fly, enjoy yourself, and hopefully make some friends.

With the new scoring system it is easy to investigate who may or may not be shade killing.

This has never been an issue with our squad and I hope it never is.
My score means nothing to me. My squad and its members mean a lot to me. If your score is important to you that is fine. If your score is so important to you that you are willing to advance it in ways that would reflect poorly on our squad then you are in the wrong squad.

To some in the Aces High community having a high rank is important to them. They play the game seriously and their rank is ‘honestly’ earned. What ever floats their boat. Consequently they have bragging rights about their skills and expertise in our cartoon airplanes. That is their choice. I think it is all silly, but to each their own. Nevertheless I will not have members of our squad ‘stealing’ others chances for top ranks by underhanded means.

A players rank in Aces High mean nothing to me. A players skill means nothing to me. The integrity and character of the player/squad member is what I look to and what earns my respect and consideration.  That is the heart of this squad.

Squadron Rules, Regulations, Expectations

Squad time

In Aces High we have a squadron flight every Friday night 11 PM Eastern and on Sunday at 9 PM Eastern. Also sometimes in the Wed night Snapshot. Everyone is expected, (if possible) to fly with us on Friday night. They generally last about an hour or two. We realize that work or other family duties may conflict. Some of our members can only fly every other weekend, but if that time is your own then we ask that you attend. If this is not a workable time slot for you then please explore other squadrons. I have several I could recommend.

How and who we recruit

We recruit by "personality only". Skill is not a factor in the membership of our squadron, never has been and never will be.

You must have an on-line account in good standing (i.e. be a paying customer) to be a member.

To become a member simply fill out the application and start flying or fighting with us. After you have joined us for a month or two on some squad nights in Aces High we will take your membership to a vote. Generally anyone who have stuck with us for several weeks becomes a member. Just be yourself and have a good time. Please read over the application page as it explains a bit more about us and what we expect.

Etiquette

Friendly, teasing banter is not a problem, but the moment it becomes ridicule, insulting or arrogant you will need to find another squadron. Foul, abusive, or insulting language is not acceptable toward any pilot from any country.

  • Respectful attitude toward all squadron members
  • Good attitude toward all pilots regardless of country
  • Willingness to help those new to the game
  • Praise and encouragement to squadron members and those who fly for the Knights
  • "6" calls whenever possible, Knights only ;-) (this is a great way to make some friends)

In my house Aces High is often a family affair. For me it is a hobby. Not a week goes by that I don't have my son (sondog) flying or have one of my daughters in my lap. I am also fortunate enough to have a wife that has enjoyed flying. I know I am not the only one with children that might be watching or flying. With that in mind I will not tolerate foul, abusive, or insulting language. I understand some of us might slip with an epithet, but I don't want to see that kind of language on a regular basis.

More than once I have been insulted by a sim pilot. Twice thoroughly cussed out by a fellow. Yes it did spoil my evening. To the credit of the Aces High community most are friendly and helpful. Take a picture and sending it to HTC (HiTech Creations) would be helpful. They will not tolerate that kind of insulting abuse anymore than I. Someone can be suspended and even lose their account for that kind of offense. Please, don't stoop to their level, take a picture and walk away.

Squadron Ranks and awards

These requirements are guidelines only. Pilots might be awarded a rank higher than the number of missions flown to satisfy that requirement if they have warranted it by service to the squadron in numerous ways. Also our ranks simply show what time and effort members have put in. They are not and never will be used to "order" others around.

*To lead a mission a member must have the rank of 2nd Lieutenant or higher.

Airman - No requirement other than a member of the squad.
